Mission

The mission of the Delaware River Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) is to provide the framework for the implementation of water quality improvement practices and behaviors through technical, informational, educational and financial assistance to stakeholders in the watershed. Our goal is to restore the watershed to a condition with clean water and healthy habitats for human and wildlife communities. We aim to make the watershed a place where people work together to sustain mutual economic and environmental well-being.

Cost Share, Scholarships, & Workshops

Delaware River WRAPS and other resource partners provide a variety of assistance in the form of scholarships, funding, and workshops to help stakeholders within the watershed and to benefit the watershed community. Funding and Cost Share available to implement best management practices to areas within the watershed.

Scholarships to provide educational opportunities to attend classes or other presentations on current best practices.

Workshops that provide instruction and information for watershed restoration techniques and other topics related to water. Most workshops are free and held locally.

Watershed Area

A WATERSHED is the area that water flows across or under on its way to a stream, river, lake or ocean. The DELAWARE RIVER WATERSHED is the area of land in northeast Kansas that water flows across or under on its way to the Delaware River, an area of over 1,110 square miles. The Delaware River terminates at its confluence with the Kansas River south of Perry Lake Reservoir near the city of Perry, Kansas. This area is shown on the map at right. The Delaware River Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy project is sponsored by the Glacial Hills Resource Conservation & Development Region, Inc. The Glacial Hills RC&D is a nonprofit organization that plans and implements projects and programs that improve the quality of life for the people of northeast Kansas via environmental, social and economic benefits to communities and surrounding areas.
